Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.

I really like to ride on trains and busses.

One of the best things about living in Tijuana is you take the train to come into San Diego. Or, to go into San Diego. You, I, come, go, it all depends on point of view and voice. Narrator. I am your narrator. You are my raison d'etre, my reason for being here. I am a text of words. You give me life by reading. I, the narrator voice who wrote this, think and speak clickity clack into typewriter keys at sixty, seventy words a minute. Then I go back and revise and try to correct all typos and grammatical errors and syntax and all that jazz. Which ain't easy as I often slide off the deep end into bla bla bla so-called "creative" BS bs beee essss oh yes.

Anyway I was saying I like to ride of — oops I mean "on" trains and busses. One reason is that you always be hearing the way the people talk, and sometimes, if you listen, they will say things to you. I mean, of course, to me. I ride trains and busses. But you are more than welcome to come along with me.

Here we go...

2.

He was chewing on a cigar and looking out the window in the seat facing me. His sweatshirt said something about Iraq. He looks about forty something. Intelligent, with a touch of sadness around his eyes and hard chin. Yet still a twinkle in his eye as he watches the world go by outside. I wonder if he has just been in Tijuana.

His cell phone chirps. He answers. Says he's going north to _______ next month. That his boss told him he would have to miss ______ but he says no way that shit is coming down on him and they know it. Yeah okay, I'm just coming back from TIA-juana, he says. Yeah, okay, see ya.

Hangs up the phone.

That a real cuban? I ask him.

No. Just something Mexican I picked up in Old Town.
